To the overthinkers who are have realized the essentiality of following Christ sincerely, and desire to do so, but is stifled by seeing your faults and great depravity and inability to such a calling way too clearly… REST.
⠀⠀
• You start to question if you will ever meet the standard, with a realized no, and knowing God is unwavering in His holiness you enter into fear… DON’T. You’re not called to meet the standard. You’re called to trust the Christ who has. Now you see your desperation for Him. You’re exactly where you need to be. Faith alone. This grace alone. We’ll fail works every time, and that’ll bring guilt and condemnation… It’s indeed, Christ alone.
• Oh, but you need to bear fruit as evidence? What is fruit? Good works/ law keeping? Or love? Love God for this sacrifice! Jesus is all we need! And He doesn’t turn away the broken. Come again. It is finished. Wrap you heart up in the promise of His perfect love, and you cannot fail because He won’t. We can sincerely thank and love Him for this forever, and to love Him is the greatest commandment. | Called and sealed.
⠀⠀
• If you have faith in the things God says, then have faith in that. That’s the faith! Faith working through His first love, which ignites love in us! And then don’t start to measure your rags and deeds of love, trusting your works or heart again. Jesus alone fulfilled perfect love to the Father. Faith in Him. Live faith to faith.
⠀⠀
• All good is from God. If you have this good faith at all, God has started it and will finish it. He is faithful and His grace is sufficient even while you doubt. If your flesh wants to waste time in doubt, allow it without fear. Your doubt means nothing in light of truth. So don’t allow it to make you fall utterly in disbelief- God loves you (nor confusion- it’s always true that we need God)! Disbelieve and doubt with steady faith. Sounds impossible… an oxymoron? But those who know the living God know all things are possible with Him. We could deny Him three times and Him still have us written down as a solid rock. Trust the love of God! He sees you with mercy and sympathy.
⠀⠀
• Trust His strength when you’re weak. Trust that you have a shepherd when your lost. Trust if you seek you will find. Trust His promise, His truth, His love. Don’t be double-minded. He says to abide in Him. So embrace His truth and hand, and don’t depend on yourself or follow lies. He’ll get His children of faith where HE wants in time!
⠀⠀
He holds us, not the other way around.
He leads us well, not us leading ourselves well.
