Romans 7:7 “…. I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”
Law of attraction, “word of faith” and practices of manifestation tend to have an underlying heart issue and sin of covetousness. In God’s word however we will learn that selfish ambition and lust of the eyes, ect. is wrong (Galatians 5) and should be put to death through repentance/ crucifying our flesh and taking up the calling to walk in the Spirit, reunited with God through the blood of Christ.
Without Jesus there is no opportunity to repent, but because of him God has granted freedom from His wrath and judgement to whoever desires to put off the old former nature and it’s corruption and thinking and be made new. But whoever remains in this false form of “gospel” or “spirituality” are instead buying the deception of the serpent who said that we could be our own “god”. Satan is also sure to continue this deception by allowing us to truly gain the world and lose our soul at times.
- Genesis 3:4-5 “Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be ‘like God’….”
- Matthew 4:8-10 “Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” “Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”
Mark 8:36 “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?”
⭐️James 4:13-16 “Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.”
⭐️ Jesus: Luke 22:42 “saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.””
⭐️ I John 2:16 “For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.”
⭐️ Matthew 13:22 “Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.”
⭐️ I Thessalonians 4:3 “For this is the will of God, your sanctification….”
⭐️ Romans 14:17 “for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”
⭐️ John 4:31-34 “In the meantime His disciples urged Him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.” But He said to them, “I have food to eat of which you do not know.” Therefore the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?” Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.”
Does your Christianity revolve more around deliverance and prosperity OR your sanctification/ becoming more like Christ, loving others as yourself and thus making disciples teaching them to obey all that Christ has commanded? (Matt.28:18-20)
God is not against wealth, but wealth can be against God’s specific plan for your life. Jesus said He didn’t have a place to lay His head, yet His true disciples also left their former lives and followed Him, bearing “crosses” of their own. (Matt.5:3-4; Matt.8:20; Revelation3:17-19)
God doesn’t need money to change a person’s heart. Faith still comes by hearing. And faith the size of a mustard seed can still move mountains if it is the Lords will. God can know a better way to accomplish His will. (Isaiah55:8)
• Do not be distracted by physical gain, rather Matthew 6:33 “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” — Yet, in balancing scripture, based on the life of Christ, His disciples and Hebrews 11:13, we will not always receive the promised land here, but in heaven. — Yet if you’re told that your faith isn’t strong enough and that’s why you’re not healthy or wealthy you can be deterred from God or worse, holding God solely for those things and be distracted from the relationship and true calling God wants us to fulfill alongside Him. You may begin to take pride in the wrong things, rather than Christ, and preach a false gospel and promise, and gain the world and lose your soul. (Mark8:36)
