Original Content : God has represented you – The Little Mermaid media chat

After taking this photo, I immediately got under the sea vibes 🌊 Especially as the room was changing to different hues of blue

 

— I usually stray conversations about secular media, because I know my prior interest and how God can change a heart.

 

• I also know how I still draw inspiration from some (rarely now honestly) music, movies, or shows, and yet how I don’t like to discuss that because there are bad/ ungodly worldviews alongside the parts of good (even in “family or non explicit” productions), and I don’t want to be confusing about God’s ways or heart.

 

Nor do I want to be unnecessarily controversial, which this upcoming release of “The Little Mermaid” has already gained.

But as the creative God’s made me, I want to take the opportunity to say that I’m in the boat of wanting original content. I’m disappointed that there are countless, unseen stories and talents yet to be highlighted and invested in, and how everything seems solely for “profit” or “agenda” based. However, as a Christian BLACK creator, I am actually posting to share a testimonial / “storytime” to voice how important representation is (I’m in this boat too 😊)

 

My art is what it is (and is becoming) today because of God. ♥ Did you know when I first started out, I used to hesitate in creating black characters anytime I had a whimsical or happy go lucky idea?

It felt too weird to picture… OR sometimes I simply wanted my art to trend and felt black art wouldn’t gain traction for the predominant white eye. That’s an unfortunate dilemma and way to think.

It wasn’t until getting closer to God did my perspective shift, as He told to me to “be the change”, 🫶 and inspired the simple love and joy of creating again!

 

This is one example as a reminder of how “position” and media plays into our lives.

 

The humble and considerate heart of Christ made THE difference for me! And this heart of His is rarely represented well in media. Likewise, whether your heart and frame is ever accurately displayed in media please know that God has already represented you in creating you for this world.
