I am a creative. And this is a glimpse of how I met the Creator and His grace.
Firstly:
God created a perfect world. But an outside enemy deceived mankind to sin against God and disaster has resulted after. God, who is light and life, knows that mankind needs Him for freedom from darkness and for life, so He reminded us of the truth. First He sent the law of perfect love through Moses, to reset and open our eyes, then He sent Himself the only capable perfect fulfillment of the law, as Jesus. Jesus displayed the mercies of God, the grace of God and the holiness of God again. He then sacrificed His life to awaken and free us from spiritual death and all it’s consequences. He was the light. If anyone continues in darkness then instead of seeking the light, God counts Him as wicked as the deceiver. But whomever comes to the light once they see the light will be saved. For if we confess our sins, God is faithful to forgive us.
That is the gospel.
God found me in the middle of pursuing selfish ambitions (which is sin). College days aspiring to be an art teacher to earn income as I multi tasked from home, planning to make amazing portfolios, graphics ect. that would eventually catch the eye of Disney until I could work alongside them even offering my stories and ideas for the big screen. Not only did fear and anxiety grip me in this pursuit, but also a sense of hopelessness and vanity. If I wasn’t dreading the possibility of failure, I was questioning what was the point of any of it… What if I did achieve it.. would I be happy? Would new and other torturous fears be present in my mind in the future as well? Can I deal with that?
It was a bad time of darkness, and I wondered why such “darkness” even existed.
The world wasn’t providing any answers, and that made things worst. Why was everyone being so silent about these voids? Was there no resolve?
That is when I sincerely prayed for help. I didn’t expect anything special, but I sure wanted anything! NEEDED anything! That is when God in His grace replied to me. He shined down light, and instantaneously one-by-one my inner demons where starting to flee. I didn’t know at the time that I was drawing closer to God. I thought I already knew Him (which is silly considering when you KNOW somebody you actually KNOW them. You both communicate, so there’s no doubting their existence, you know their heart, their desires, what they would think about certain things, how much they love you ect. and I did not know God that intimately).
But darkness was shedding away as God lead me into reading scripture and I eventually was saved- understanding the darkness, seeing the light and desiring it wholeheartedly. I saw the worlds sin, my sin and the corruption of it all in light of God’s goodness. So I naturally changed. Started living changed. Seeing the need for grace and redemption. For repentance and faith.
To Know God is to love God. To love God is to gladly give Him everything. I was living outside of His will, but He still answered my selfish prayer and gave me incomprehensible love. He flipped the scene, changed my perspective and selflessly saved my soul. My creativity is no longer godless or vain.
God has called me His creative child, and to use it for love through righteousness. And I’m very glad to do that! To create in His hand, which will hold me (and whoever else abides in Him) forever! Imagine! We will enjoy life with Him and one another in kindness forever because of His grace?! God doesn’t just inspire us to keep going. He stops us, disciplines us and puts us in a brand new race. A race towards and for eternity Kingdom Visions, not just success before death. What race are you in? Let the blood of Jesus draft you back into this favor and selfless mercy. Let God renew you. Follow Him- God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. For He loves us and YOU so much and desires for you be loved eternally! He is forgiving! He is our savior!
How do you embrace Christ? Simply believe. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” God’s grace is selfless. He gives freely to those who desire His gifts. So, if you have heard and believe that Jesus is Lord and therefore the only able Messiah who’s come to deliver us from sin and all the darkness that comes from it, you will be saved! For faith comes by hearing. (Romans10:17) And all who believe the truth will be saved.
Just to follow that up, I want to say that salvation is a coming to life! So it is not complacent or still like death. It is a new, in God, righteous life! It hungers and thirsts not for the world but for Christ. Jesus said He is the bread of life and living water. Jesus is God and God is the word (John 1), so find Him and all the direction you’ll need for your new life there.
